When it has already gone wrong
Most of this site is about doing things in the right order. This part is about what happens when that has not been possible: a refusal, an expulsion order, a border officer who will not let you through, a phone call from a police station.
Almost all of it runs on deadlines measured in days, not months, and almost all of it gets worse if you wait to see whether it resolves itself. If you are in one of these situations, the useful thing is to call rather than to read.
